Norway: Land of the Midnight Sun

How does a lady from Compton, California end up spending the summer exploring Norway, the Land of the Midnight Sun?

Simple: book a ticket and go! LoL

Embarking on a Nordic Adventure for 2024 was an exhilarating decision. My original plan was to explore the vibrant cities of Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki

Budgetary and time constraints forced me to choose one of these fascinating cities for my summer adventure.

I selected Oslo, deciding to visit the other two cities later this year. This time, I also decided to do an organized group tour instead of a solo adventure.

It’s been 10 years since my last organized group tour. In that time, I’ve learned how good I am at planning my solo adventures, while helping others plan their adventures.

Being mindful of tour scams, I meticulously researched various tour companies to ensure their legitimacy and reputation.

While the prevalence of fake companies online was not surprising, it underscored the importance of due diligence when seeking a stress-free vacation. Reading multiple reviews from diverse sources about a company’s customer service, particularly their emergency assistance, is a crucial part of the responsibility in selecting a tour company.

My choice of Globus Tours was a solid one. Their legitimacy, backed by good BBB accreditations and honest reviews, gave me confidence. Despite the single supplement, their prices were reasonable and within my budget.

Norway in a Nutshell was also an option. This self-guided tour allows you to take the reins and customize your experiences to suit your desires. Nutshell Tours uses a combination of public transport, such as buses, boats, and trains. However, the plethora of negative reviews about their customer service, especially during emergencies, filled me with dread.

I ultimately decided against the Nutshell tour because it didn’t align with my interests. The activities I was keen on wouldn’t be available during my visit. But as they say, no harm, no foul.

I had a great experience with a Globus representative named Katie who provided detailed information about tours that matched my interests. Since I’m not an outdoorsy traveler, Katie helped me choose the Norway tour that suited my preferences and comfort level.

Their Best of Norway fit perfectly into my schedule and included a delightful two-day stay in Bergen

Even though I initially wanted to visit Norway to explore Oslo, Bergen became a top priority on my travel list after watching Hallmark’s My Norwegian Holiday

The final price for the tour package was $2449, which included accommodation at 3-star or higher hotels, daily breakfast, and dinner for four of the six nights. Additionally, I was able to get a great deal on a one-way flight to Oslo from my location, which included checked luggage.

Barely able to contain my excitement, it was soon time to embark on my 2024 Nordic Adventure, beginning in beautiful Tigerstaden!
