Ah, Brussels!
Europe’s unofficial capital and the perfect place for the latest Adventure 2025 escapade. Since this was my third visit to the city, the “must-see“ attractions fell by the wayside.
Don’t get me wrong, the waffles and chocolate were still a must, but museums and walking tours were not.
GETTING HERE
Let’s talk travel. Flying is usually my go-to, but this time, I struck gold with a first-class train ticket for just $30! I mean, for that price, who can say no to a three-hour train ride over a flight?
When was the last time you got a comfy seat, service, and a chance to actually see the countryside for less than your last meal? Plus, I saved $100!
Add on the fact I got to enjoy a few extra hours of snoozing rather than the hustling to the airport, and that makes the decision even better.
As I strolled into Brussel-Midi, I scooped up a $10 one-day travel card and hopped on the tram like a seasoned local. Voilà, here I am!
CARDO BRUSSELS
Nestled in a part of the city that’s not a total tourist trap is Cardo Brussels, my hotel of choice. Its location is prime for easy access to public transport, shopping, and sights without the stress of long commutes.
Check-in was a bit slow as one representative staffed the reception desk. Fortunately, another representative popped out soon and began helping guests. She even had the wherewithal to tell the other three representatives that ‘break time was over.’
My ART King Room was cleaned and stylishly decorated. At 28 square meters, it was on the larger side when compared to similar European hotel rooms. I received an offer for a complimentary upgrade to a SKY King room, which is 35 square meters, but I declined it because it was on the 22nd floor.

The room was cozy and perfectly matched the photos. Only two notable negatives: the A/C could barely muster a breeze, and the shower had only two settings: glacial or volcanic.
On the bright side, the tea kettle was clean! A major win in my book, as it meant I didn’t need to perform the vinegar descaling treatment.
PHOTO SAFARI
With no grand destinations on the agenda, I decided to embark my traditional photo safari.
Armed with my trusty camera, I roamed the streets of Brussels, capturing its quirky architecture and bustling street life.
Honestly, just wandering around and taking pictures felt like a vacation in itself. I mean, who needs a lineup of tourist traps when the city is your playground?

So here’s to Brussels — the city filled with delicious treats, charming streets, and the delightful chaos of travel. More to come on this adventure as I explore the nuances of living like a local, one photo at a time!
Until next time,
